Treatments

Lasers

  • Picoway laser

Picoway laser is highly effective for various cosmetic and medical purposes. By using non-invasive laser technology, it utilises ultra short pulses of high-energy laser light to treat various skin concerns.

Picoway laser can be used for tattoo removal, pigmentation correction, acne scar treatment, and skin rejuvenation. It is effective in removing tattoos of all colours, including hard-to-remove red, green and blue pigments. It is especially effective in the treatment of freckles, sun spots, and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, the dark marks that remain after burns, injury or post acne. It is also good for the treatment of stretch marks and hyperpigmented scars.

  • Alex TriVantage laser

The Alex TriVantage laser is a versatile laser that can be used to treat a range of skin concerns, including pigmentation correction, mole removal, tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation.

We often use the Alex TriVantage laser for pigmentation correction, such as the removal of freckles, sunspots, and age spots. The longer pulse duration allows the laser to work gently, even in darker skin types, resulting in a reduced risk of post laser pigmentation in Asians. It is also effective at treating flat brown moles, often treating these successfully after 1-2 treatments. Lastly it is used to treat deeper dermal pigmentation such as Hori’s naevi and also tattoos.

  • Pulsed dye laser (VBEAM laser)

The VBEAM or pulsed dye laser uses a concentrated beam of light that targets the blood vessels in the skin, resulting in the reduction of the appearance of vascular lesions such as port wine stains, spider veins, and haemangiomas. Red faces caused by rosacea or telangiectasia can also be effectively treated with this vascular laser.

In addition to treating vascular lesions, the pulsed dye laser can also be used to treat other skin conditions such as acne scars, keloid scars and red marks. It can also be used for cosmetic skin rejuvenation, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Excel V laser

The Excel V laser is a gentle long pulsed laser that can be used to treat a range of skin concerns, including pigmented and vascular lesions, as well as for skin rejuvenation.

The Excel V laser uses a combination of two different laser wavelengths to target and treat specific skin concerns. It can be used to treat pigmented lesions, such as sun spots, freckles and melasma. The laser energy is absorbed by the melanin in the pigmented lesions, causing them to break down and be absorbed by the body.

It is also effective at treating vascular lesions, such as spider veins, broken blood vessels, and rosacea. The laser energy is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood vessels, causing them to gradually shrink and be absorbed by the body, resulting in a reduction in the appearance of redness and discolouration.

The Excel V laser can also be used for skin rejuvenation by stimulating collagen production and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Smartxide Fractional CO2 laser

The Smartxide Fractional CO2 laser is a strong ablative laser that is used to improve the appearance of more severe skin concerns such as atrophic scars left from severe acne, and deep wrinkles in aged skin.

The Smartxide Fractional CO2 laser works by delivering a concentrated beam of light to the skin, which creates tiny columns of thermal injury. This process stimulates the production of collagen in the skin, leading to skin rejuvenation and resurfacing, and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The laser can also be used to treat a range of skin concerns, including acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, pigmentation issues, and sun damage. It can also be used to improve the overall texture and tone of the skin.

It is also important to note that the treatment may require multiple sessions for optimal results, and patients may experience some redness, swelling, and discomfort following the procedure.

  • GentleLase laser

The GentleLase laser is particularly effective at lasering off hair on different skin types. It works by delivering laser energy to the hair follicle, which is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. This process causes the hair follicle to gradually heat up and be destroyed, leading to permanent hair reduction.

It is also important to note that the treatment may require multiple sessions for optimal results, and patients may experience some temporary redness, swelling, and discomfort following the procedure.

Skin Tightening

  • Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a gold standard skin tightening treatment that uses ultrasound technology to lift and tighten the skin. It is a safe and effective alternative to surgical facelifts and other invasive procedures. During an Ultherapy treatment, a handheld device is used to deliver focused ultrasound energy to the skin's underlying tissue. The ultrasound energy stimulates the production of collagen, which helps to lift and tighten the skin over time.

Ultherapy can be used to treat a range of areas on the face and neck, including the forehead, temples, under the chin, and around the jawline. It is particularly effective at reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and can also help to improve the overall texture and tone of the skin.

One of the benefits of Ultherapy is that it requires no downtime or recovery period. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the treatment. Some patients may experience mild redness or swelling in the treatment area, but this typically subsides within a few hours.

  • BTL Exilis

BTL Exilis is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) technology to reduce fat, tighten skin, and improve the appearance of skin on the face and around the eyes.

During a BTL Exilis treatment, a handheld device is used to deliver controlled RF energy to the treatment area. The RF energy heats the deep layers of the skin, which stimulates collagen production, and help result in smoother, tighter skin and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines.

One of the benefits of BTL Exilis is that it requires no downtime or recovery period. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the treatment. Some patients may experience mild redness or swelling in the treatment area, but this typically subsides within a few hours.

Allergies

Allergies can sometimes be difficult to diagnose and treat. Allergies are caused by an immune system response to a foreign substance, like pollen or shellfish. The immune system releases chemicals that cause inflammation in the body, which leads to symptoms of an allergic reaction. Symptoms can include rashes, sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, hives, and even life-threatening reactions like anaphylaxis.

We are able to diagnose allergies through a blood test, skin prick test or patch test. In these tests, your doctor will sometimes expose you to small amounts of potential allergens and measure how your body responds.

Treatment for Allergies

There are many different types of treatments for allergies depending on their severity: creams, antihistamines, topical or oral steroids and immunotherapies.

Injectables

  • Botox

Botox (Botulinum toxin) is a type of protein that is used in various medical and cosmetic procedures. It works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles and blocking nerve impulses, which can have a range of effects.

In the cosmetic field, Botox is most commonly used to temporarily smooth out wrinkles and fine lines in the face. It can be used to treat forehead lines, crow's feet around the eyes, and frown lines between the eyebrows. Botox can also be used to lift the eyebrows and corners of the mouth, and to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile.

It is important to note that Botox is a temporary treatment, and its effects typically last for three to four months.

  • Fillers

Fillers are injectable substances that are used for cosmetic purposes to restore volume and fullness to the face, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, and enhance facial features. Some of the common uses of fillers in cosmetic procedures:

    • Reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines: Fillers can be used to plump up and smooth out wrinkles and fine lines in the face, such as the nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines (lines around the mouth), and frown lines.
    • Enhance facial features: Fillers can be used to enhance the shape and size of certain facial features, such as the lips, cheeks, chin, and nose. For example, fillers can be used to add volume to thin lips, create a more defined chin, or create more volumised cheeks.
    • Restore volume and fullness: As we age, our face loses volume and fullness, which can lead to sagging and hollowed-out areas. Fillers can be used to restore volume and fullness to the face, such as in the cheeks, temples, and under the eyes.
    • Improve skin texture and tone: Some fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which can improve skin texture and tone by boosting hydration and stimulating collagen production.

Surgery

  • Skin surgery

Skin surgery involves the surgical removal or treatment of skin lesions or growths. There are many different types of skin surgery, and the specific type of procedure will depend on the type and location of the skin lesion or growth. Some common types of skin surgery include:

    • Excision: Excision is a surgical procedure that involves removing a skin lesion or growth using a scalpel or other surgical instrument. The wound is typically closed with sutures or other types of skin closure materials.
    • MOHS surgery: MOHS surgery is a specialized technique for removing skin cancer that involves removing layers of skin one at a time and examining each layer under a microscope until all cancer cells are removed.
    • Skin grafting: Skin grafting is a procedure that involves taking a piece of healthy skin from one part of the body and transplanting it to an area of the body where skin has been lost or damaged.
    • Laser surgery: Laser surgery uses high-energy carbon dioxide laser to remove or treat skin lesions or growths.
    • Cryosurgery: Cryosurgery is a procedure that uses extreme cold to freeze and destroy abnormal skin tissue.
  • Shave excision, electrosurgery, and cryosurgery

Shave excision, electrosurgery, and cryosurgery are all medical procedures that are commonly used for the removal of skin lesions or growths. Here is a brief overview of each procedure:

    • Shave Excision: Shave excision is a surgical procedure that involves removing a skin lesion by shaving it off with a scalpel. This is usually done under local anesthesia, and the wound typically heals over time without the need for stitches. Shave excision is commonly used to remove moles, skin tags, and other benign skin growths.
    • Electrosurgery: Electrosurgery is a procedure that uses high-frequency electrical currents to remove skin growths. During the procedure, a small electrode is used to deliver an electric current to the affected area, which vaporizes the tissue and removes the lesion. Electrosurgery is commonly used to remove warts, skin tags, and other benign skin growths.
    • Cryosurgery: Cryosurgery is a procedure that uses extreme cold to freeze and destroy abnormal tissue. During the procedure, liquid nitrogen is applied to the affected area using a special device. Cryosurgery is commonly used to remove warts, skin tags, and other benign skin growths.

Scalp Treatments

  • Regenera Activa

Regenera Activa is a minimally invasive medical treatment that involves using a patient's own tissue to promote hair growth in areas of the scalp that are affected by hair loss. The treatment involves extracting a small tissue sample from the patient's scalp and processing it to obtain a solution that is rich in regenerative cells and growth factors. This solution is then injected into the patient's scalp in the areas where hair growth is desired.

The regenerative cells and growth factors in the solution are believed to promote hair growth by stimulating the activity of hair follicles and improving the overall health and quality of the scalp tissue. The treatment is generally well-tolerated and does not require any significant downtime or recovery period.

Regenera Activa is used to treat androgenetic alopecia, which is the most common type of hair loss in both men and women. It may also be used to treat other types of hair loss, although further research is needed to determine its effectiveness for these conditions.

  • Scalp Microneedling

Scalp microneedling is used as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (pattern baldness) and other forms of hair loss. It is a non-invasive procedure that involves using a specialized device to create tiny punctures in the skin of the scalp. The device used for scalp microneedling has very fine needles that penetrate the skin at a controlled depth, typically between 0.5 mm and 2.5 mm.

The micro-injuries created by the needles stimulate the body's natural healing response, which can lead to increased blood flow, the production of collagen and elastin, and the release of growth factors that promote hair growth.

The procedure is generally well-tolerated and requires little to no downtime, although some patients may experience temporary redness, swelling, or sensitivity of the scalp.
